Personal statement: Greetings,
My name is Palina Brueyk. I am a post-graduate PhD student at Technological University Dublin. I am currently in my third year and working on the project with the title of Development of
a Novel Scavenging & Sensing Device for Biological Contaminants in Water.
In recent years, there has been rising concern over
the purity of drinking water due to the number of reported waterborne bacterial
and viral diseases cases. The aim of this project is to design and synthesise macrocycles and use them to create surface and virus imprinted
polymers (SIPs and VIPs) for selective detection and removal of E.coli (Escherichia coli), Cryptosporidium,
and norovirus from water.
